escrypt - April Newsletter 2008

April 2008

Dear Sir`s,

Embedded security is becoming a crucial aspect for a variety of industries to secure business models, secure the competitive advantages, and protect safety.

This newsletter features escrypt`s award-winning embedded cryptographic library. The library supports all relevant cryptographic algorithms including elliptic curve cryptography, RSA, the SHA hash family and AES. A large variety of security applications can be built with esLIB. The library is optimized for the needs of the embedded industry and is tailored to specific applications needs, such as optimum runtime performance and minimum code size. esLIB can be ported to basically all computing platforms including a wide variety of 8, 16 and 32-bit controllers. In the following, a selection of applications is described that are based on esLIB:

Secure Software Flashing:

Electronic control units (ECU), mobile phones, and a multitude of other devices run program code stored in flash memory. Tampering with the stored program code or flashing of non-authorized code is a common attack path in order to compromise a device, undermine business models, or gain an illegal advantage. escrypt provides solutions to protect the secure software flash process.

User Access:

Embedded devices such as ECUs and consumer electronics require access for a variety of purposes including testing and service access. escrypt provides solutions that overcome restrictions when using a password-based approach.

Feature Activation:

Feature activation makes exciting new business models possible. However, an end-user might be tempted to use a feature without paying for it. escrypt protects your business models and revenues.

Please feel free to contact us for any further information.

Best regards

Katrin Mannheims, Jan Pelzl, Thomas Wollinger
