escar Asia 2019, held on October 1 and 2 in Tokyo, will be dedicated to ISO/SAE 21434 and the development of international standards for automotive cybersecurity. The program will also cover exciting best-practice examples as well as new technological trends and hacking methods. escar Asia offers an opportunity to exchange ideas with leading automotive security experts from all over the world.
The closing event on October 2 at 4:30 p.m. is worth highlighting here: during the “Automotive security in the age of WP.29 and ISO/SAE” panel discussion, Bosch Security Expert Timo Lothspeich, Lars Wolleschky from the American automotive supplier Lear Corporation, and ESCRYPT Senior Manager Dr. Moritz Minzlaff will explain how ISO/SAE standardization, UNECE Task Force WP.29 guidelines, and other legal requirements change the perception of automotive security. Their conclusion: the automotive industry will need an entirely new approach to vehicle protection, not only in terms of technology but also organization.
